Ganz Transformers and Electrical Rotating Machines Ltd. has been a key player in the high-voltage electrical equipment market since its re-establishment in 2020. Following a strategic acquisition of the Tápiószele Ganz plant, the company has strengthened its operations and workforce, securing its place as one of the leading manufacturers of transformers, motors, and generators in the region. With over 600 employees, Ganz is a significant employer in its sector in Hungary, committed to innovation and sustainable industry practices.
The Ganz 2030 project, a €52 million investment programme announced in 2025, aims to expand production capacity while preparing the company for a broader transformation. The project focuses on developing new production lines, enhancing intellectual property value, and modernizing manufacturing facilities. With a strong commitment to sustainability, the company will repurpose existing factory buildings and infrastructure, ensuring an efficient and environmentally responsible expansion.

Market Demand Driving the Project
The growing demand for electricity transmission has become a defining trend in the power industry, largely driven by two key factors: the expansion of renewable energy sources and the drive of electrification. As countries and industries shift towards sustainable energy solutions, the integration of solar power into national grids has necessitated improved infrastructure and increased transmission capacity. Additionally, the rise of digitalization and cloud computing has led to an explosion in data centres, which require substantial electrical support to maintain operations efficiently.
To meet these evolving market needs, Ganz has strategically positioned itself to enhance its manufacturing capacity, focusing on high-voltage electrical equipment that supports these industries. The company is prioritizing the production of Small-Medium Power Transformers (SMPTs), which are essential for stabilizing and distributing energy across various industrial and utility sectors. This adaptation requires significant upgrades to manufacturing facilities, including preparatory work on existing production areas and the construction of new halls to accommodate the growing demand of transformers.
Recognizing that the demand for power transmission is not limited to its operations alone, Ganz is also responding to competitive pressures as other European manufacturers undertake similar capacity expansion projects. However, one of Ganz’s unique advantages is its physical location situated in Tápiószele away from urban constraints, the company has the flexibility to scale up without facing the infrastructural limitations often encountered in major industrial hubs.

Expanding Production by 2030
The Ganz 2030 development programme has begun in April 2025 with infrastructure expansion, including an insulation factory upgrade, building integration, and a new storage hall, set for completion by the end of 2025. This initial phase also includes the transformation of two existing buildings into a modern insulation manufacturing facility, leveraging sustainability principles by repurposing rather than demolishing older structures.
From 2026 to mid-2027, the focus shifts toward a comprehensive sustainability strategy, incorporating brownfield investments to modernize and expand production capacities. This phase involves upgrading existing manufacturing lines, integrating eco-friendly solutions, and enhancing power transformer production. Additionally, a new testing facility will enhance quality assurance, allowing for advanced transformer diagnostics previously unavailable in-house.
Beyond production expansion, Ganz is modernizing its entire industrial infrastructure, including office space transformation to support operational efficiency. The goal is to create a fully modernized and streamlined factory, ensuring all service units align with cutting-edge industry standards.
By 2030, the company aims to double production output, increase workforce by 200 employees, and reduce processing time through optimized workflow and advanced testing methodologies. Ganz is already actively recruiting, supported by the Ganz Educational Center.

What does the future hold?
The company remains customer-focused, and with this investment, it will be able to manufacture tailor-made transformers with shorter lead times. Additionally, a dedicated section will be established for transformer servicing, supporting sustainability efforts by repairing existing equipment instead of opting for entirely new manufacturing.
