High interest in GANZ Intelligent Solutions

The first intelligent transformer of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. is already successfully operating in Sweden. In addition to this, intelligent transformer units designed for Hungarian and Estonian customers will be delivered soon. Following the first three orders, with a total value of more than HUF 960 million, the company will deliver a further 18 smart transformers to the domestic and international renewable energy market by the end of 2023.

In parallel with the increase of its production capacity and its international expansion, in the third and fourth quarters of 2022, the Hungarian heavy equipment manufacturer successfully produced the first transformer units with intelligent monitoring systems for its domestic and international customers. The company has delivered and commissioned a transformer unit with a capacity of 46 MVA, equipped with the intelligent monitoring system, for a total value of more than HUF 270 million in Gothenburg, Sweden. For ENEFIT Green in Estonia, a leading renewable energy producer in the Baltic Sea region, Ganz has delivered a 50 MVA, 347/33 kV intelligent transformer unit for a total value of almost HUF 390 million. The high-power transformer unit will contribute to the power supply of a wind farm Lüganuse, Estonia from the first quarter of 2023.

In addition to the Baltic and Scandinavian markets, the company also supplied a 63 MVA, 120/22 kV intelligent transformer unit for the solar farm in the Hungarian renewable energy market. Through a joint project with Phlegon Ltd. and Forest-Vill Ltd., worth more than HUF 300 million, Ganz’s new intelligent solution will contribute to the energy supply of a 48 MW solar farm in Kiskunhalas, Hungary, which covers an area of about 100 hectares.

In the second quarter of 2022, as a result of a partnership with Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, the world leader in transformer control in Germany, and its successful R & D activities, Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd. officially launched its latest intelligent technology development, Ganz Intelligent Solutions. With this new development, the company aims to make the electricity industry more sustainable through intelligent transformers and the transformer market more efficient through 21st-century digital solutions.

“Over the past months, we have been working steadily to get the first intelligent transformers up and running and to prepare them properly for the operating conditions. It is therefore particularly significant for our company that we have successfully commissioned the first transformer unit with an intelligent monitoring system in Sweden and have also produced a further unit for the Estonian market. At the same time, as the only Hungarian transformer manufacturer, it was also very important for our company to contribute to the more sustainable operation of the Hungarian energy supply and to the achievement of the carbon targets through joint projects with Hungarian customers. As for next year, Ganz has already received orders for a further 18 intelligent transformers, and this number is expected to increase further based on the first positive market feedback” – said Jan Prins, Managing Director of Ganz Transformers and Electric Rotating Machines Ltd.
